The Westminster Dog Show is one of the most popular dog shows not just in the US but around the world. The exhibition has usually been held annually since its first edition in 1877. The two-day exhibition includes over 200 dogs that compete against each other in different categories such as herding, sport, work, toy, hound, etc.
The first show took place in New York City and has kept its venue for years, with the exception of this year when it is scheduled to move.
The show is designed to entertain fans, but it also shows different qualities of new breeds of dogs. The show is also useful for the breeders who come to evaluate different breeds for other breeding processes.
The show serves the purpose of entertaining fans and at the same time serves as a platform on which fans, breeders, and interested parties can get to know the various new quality breeds of dogs. More importantly, the show is useful for the breeders evaluating the top-performing breeds for further breeding processes.
Just like in any other state of emergency, the show has never been canceled, and even during the current pandemic, the show is still scheduled but in compliance with public health guidelines.
The organizers ensured the welfare and safety of the judges, exhibitors, and dogs by relocating this year’s show to outdoor space.
In the midst of governmental requirements and to ensure the safety of everyone involved, participation was restricted as only a few spectators are allowed. In this context, it is important to watch the program on your television.
